PC Upgrade Suggestions

I am currently using a PC which I built 5 years ago now. I am going to be upgrading soon and was wanting some suggestions. Quite new to this forum so let me know if this post is in the wrong area. Everything is being changed out except for the 780Ti

 

Current:

Mobo: ASRock Fatal1ty z77 Performance

CPU: Intel i5-3470

Ram: 16GB G.SKILL Ripjaws X

GPU: MSI 780Ti

PSU: Corsair CX-750 V3

Case: Coolermaster K380

Cooling: All stock

Mobo: Maximus VIII Hero

CPU: Intel i7-6700k

Ram: 8GB HyperX Fury 2666MHz

GPU: MSI 780Ti (Waiting for Pascal before thinking about upgrading)

PSU: Corsair CX-750 V3

Case: Corsair Obsidian 750D

Cooling:

     CPU: EKWB Predator 360 AIO (will be adding more fans for push-pull)

     GPU: Will add a GPU block after deciding if I want to upgrade to pascal

No way you built it 5 years ago considering that cpu didn't come out till 2012  :lol:

I would also recommend to get a new PSU, as the CX series uses very cheap capacitors and is know to fail in higher temps. I would recommend a unit from XFX, SeaSonic or one from EVGA's GS,B2,G2,P2,T2 series.

But why exactly would you wanna go from 16gb RAM to 8gb?  Just curious.

I would rather not but it costs more. I might change it out for 1x8gb so that I can upgrade more easily in The future

It shouldn't make too much of a difference. Unless of course I use... Chrome

I used to use Chrome, and then I got the Adobe Zoosey (or something like that, I know that it was Adobe something though) trojan virus.  The ONLY way I was able to fix my computer was to completely restore it to factory settings.  That virus sucked sooo bad, it would make my computer run everything in the background, and make everything run hot.  The fans were always running to the max, I didn't know that I could have probably ran a Kasperski disk and it would have solved my problems at the time, but you live and learn lol.  Anyway lol I hate using Chrome specifically because of that.

If you are only gaming, then you are spending money for little performance gain. A cheaper option would be to source a 2nd hand i7 3770K if you want an i7.

 

Also as already mentioned above, look into getting a better psu. The CX is pretty low end.
