so i have this router that i have been using for almost a year now. It was used by 2 PC's wired.

i'm planing on getting my first ever smartphone (Huawei P8 lite) and i want to see if my wi-fi works.

basiclly i have my WI-FI switch set on off.

some time ago we had guests that came over and asked me if there is wi-fi, so i turned it on. but what they said that ether i gave them incorrect password, or they did not found it.

what i want to know is, if there is any way to check if my wi-fi is working allright without any devices that can check for it >_< . (no phone, laptops etc.)

Other than checking the settings on your router's config page (usually something like 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.0.1) you can't really test it. I would just have a friend/neighbor over and see if they can connect to the WiFi.

Log in to the router's setting page. Make sure wifi is active, give the network a name and setup your security options. You'll want to be using WPA2. Your wifi is now working.

IF, when you get the smartphone, you are having trouble getting wifi to work, try resetting the router to factory defaults and going through the setup again. If it still doesn't work after that, buy a new router

If OP lives in a densely populated area, just turn off security, wait 10 minutes and then check the dhcp table to see how many leaches have connected! lol

Hahaha true

i do live in a  quite poppulated area, i might ask my friend to come over and see if he can do it though, i dont want no stranger stealing my net : >

login to the router and check the settings

my wiarless password should be under tab : Wireless Security right ? (i remember in setup i used one password, but it shows different here)

from the looks of it should be running, i just gave wrong password to my guests then.
