Ugh sigh, I've posted here like 2 times already. I NEED a new build. My current system is as follows, AMD FX3820, ASUS M5A97, 8GB RAM, 120GB Patriot SSD, 1TB WD BLACK, GTX 780, and a CX500 (yes I know I need more, I didn't get the 780 until recently.)

I need the new system to total under $700, I can go up to $750 though. I also need to be able to run Premiere Pro and while rendering video or exporting I need to be able to use my machine such as chrome or another less CPU intensive program. It would also be nice if I were able to be working in After Effects and Premiere at the same time.

Parts I already have for the new build: Corsair 750D, 1 SSD and 1 HDD, and the GTX 780.

I've been going back and forth between Xeon or Core series processors. I also will be gaming on this machine, but my attitude about gaming is, if I can run GTA V on medium to high and get 40-60 fps then I'm fine.

So please please send me lists, send me suggestions send me whatever you can. This community is awesome.

EDIT: Current potential part list: i74790k, 16GB Corsair Vengeance, MSI Z97S SLI Krait Edition, and the EVGA SUPERNOVA G2 650W. I don't really need a CPU cooler ATM as I am on a fairly tight budget. I will get one in the weeks following the new build.

System: i7 4790K, Hyper 212 EVO, 16 GB Crucial Ballistix, GTX 1070 Super clocked, MSI Z97S SLI Krait Edition, Corsair RM 750, Corsair 750D (with 2 additional 140mm NZXT fans up top for exhaust.)

Xeon 1231v3.

you already have a dedicated graphics card so there's no reason to worry about not having integrated graphics.

It's an i7, for the price of an i5.

Nuff said.

Get yourself a xeon 1231v3 with a cheap h85 board from asus, and add on another 8gbs for a total of 16gbs of memory, throw in your 780 and you're set mate. Total should be around 400$ for the cpu, motherboard, and ram.

CPU: Intel Xeon E3-1231 V3 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($242.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Motherboard: Asus B85M-G R2.0 Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  ($66.28 @ Amazon)
Memory: Team Dark 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 Memory  ($64.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $424.16
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

yeah when I get my christmas bonus I might get a 970 or 980 but I got the Super clocked 780 from a friend for a steal. It was an upgrade from an HD7770

Would the lower clock speed of the Xeon not be an issue? The 4Ghz on the 4790k is tempting. I know not all Processors are created equal though. I just don't know enough about intel as there are so many variations. It was easier with AMD, "this many cores, this fast, this socket" there wasn't a lot of overlap on their line up.

EDIT: Also the only thing I really know about Xeons are that they are server grade processors designed for 24/7 operation. And to my understanding they are designed for a completely different work load?

Me personally I say get a normal core cpu. Xeons are meant for 24/7 operation, and from what I've heard they're not meant for gaming. Also from what I've heard (I believe Linus mentioned this at times) but Xeons typically don't run normal ram that well, them needing work grade kind.

haha yeah, I can't run my system under load now :/. I mean I haven't had any issues with it the 3 years I've owned it though.

I know that a couple of the xeons I've looked at do support non-ecc memory but yeah I keep going back and forth between Core and Xeon
