Hey guys I was wondering if it would be worth getting this because I am wanting a camaro and my mom won't help me pay for one like she said she would. So I have $280 cash on me and can grab this today but would it be too much for a 17 year old? I have re built engines and whole cars before but that was with friends and I am wanting to do this without them, also I have all the tools.. http://columbia.craigslist.org/cto/5271959292.html

I was looking at a 79 camaro for $3000 and my mom said she would help pay for it but never came through with it and I had to settle with this. I have a car already I just wanted to get this as a project car..

I know but there is a project car, then there is building a whole car from scratch on your own haha

depends how much up to the task you are

I think you'd end up spending more by fixing this one than by purchasing the 3000$ one. Also, if you're 17 and already own a car, I'd pass for the time being - you're in a better situation than a lot of people your age and a camaro is a big freaking car for a guy who just got his license. Plus, fuel isn't going to be cheap. Get a job first, then consider your options.

1. He's a mechanic and hasn't touched it, they have the worst cars...lol.

2. That body is useless, you'd need a whole 'nother car.

3 $250 + 25 -30 THOUSAND = Done.

IMO buy something with less work. You won't be able to drive a 250 dollar camaro for so long that there is no point. Get some income and get a car you can actually drive vs just looking at it for years IMO. It's not adding to your "coolness" or being useful just sitting wherever being rusty. :) I had some project cars and they always cost more or are worse off to fix than you think. If that is what the guy is telling you, what the heck is he NOT telling you ?

If you have lots of time any money it might be an interesting project. But really its probably going to cost alot and then really be better to buy one in better conditions if you really want one.

as people have said before restoring something from that condition is going to cost probably 20k at least the interior needs to be redone its a ton of work plus just keeping old cars going is a lot of work and by the time you invest all that money into it its not going to be worth that much you would loose money selling it i would say buy a car that has been loved for a while and does not need a ton of work
