So just encountered this oddity a few minutes ago. My year old Rosewell Hive power supply was making an odd coil whine up until I did a full restart.

Is the coil whine that randomly happened the sign of it taking a shit? Should I just replace it fully? Yank it apart and do naughty things to it?

I don't know anything about the issue but just saying if you have to take it apart I did that to an old power supply today and pulled out the capacitors. Those things are fun to play with as long as you are careful enough to not shock the crap out of yourself xD

Calm the fuck down, nothings wrong, please don't do naughty things to your PC. Linus mad a video about it, check it out.

But it's so sensual. Keeps winking at me. Whispering sweet nothings. It's getting weird now, I'll stop.

Update

I did a short and minor benchmark to see if it came back and I didn't hear it again. The only thing I heard was an odd but continuous and unerratic fan sound if I jammed my ear under the computer. I have to mark though that the only fan sounds I can compare it to is the coil whine and that of my general fans.

Coil whine can happen with any PSU but it's not harmful in anyway just annoying really. The Rosewill Hive one from the looks of things is a decent unit that is not too bad in terms of power quality and components inside.
