VCE bandwidth limit

Anyone know the true limit of VCE codec? I'm using it with OBS and I can only get like 720p/30fps stable. They say vce 1.0 can do 1080/30fps and 720/60fps but I dont get anywhere close (They say if you put speed/fast preset on you can get 1080p/60fps). Even my FX 4300 (x264) gets 60fps, but high usage of course.

Anyone know how to fix this? I'm using bilinear downsampling for 720p, 5000 bit rate, fast vce advanced settings

update to newest drivers

update to newest obs vce

and you have to use media framework since amd got rid of vce 1 is 15.7+

Media framework might be it, first 2 should be good though, will let you know once i get home. I beleive its VCF now or something. I tried both (by downgrading drivers) however and it didn't work.

what cpu and what game

fx 4300, even x264 doesnt run bad. i tried bl2 and minecraft, i already know no game will work watching fps

Edit: Tested a 2D game, 1080p60 and it run at 5-20 fps even though hardly any cpu or gpu is being used. so gpu/cpu utilization doesnt matter

The HD7850 has one of the first VCE implementations ever in it. it's buggy as fuck and completely unreliable. I had a 7850 a while back and tried the same with OBS. It straight up doesn't work  like I wanted it to do. It also cuts your framerates by 25%.

Nvidia works SO MUCH better because it uses a special H264 chip instead of using the GPU. I hate to say that but: You won't be happy with VCE for streaming. ESPECIALLY not V 1.0 which lacks support for way to much stuff.

Buy an nvidia card for streaming. The GTX 650 is almost the same speed an costs like under 100$ and you will be able to stream properly.

See ya ;)

Thanks for the info.

I might wait for next nvidia series cards for that though. OBS includes a nvidia codec by default, hopefully it runs well

(Didn't try with OBS but when I had my r9 270x i used raptr's GVR and it ran perfectly, which runs the same VCE. Doesn't make much sence - could be OBS's fault)
