so i just replaced thermal paste on a athlon x2 64 5000+ and i was wondering what a safe temps and what temps usually are for this cpu, its my first time owning a amd cpu so i have no idea, right now im folding to try and test the temps on load since aida 64 refuses to run on this hardware, and im sitting at around 55-60 degrees, for some reason the cpu wont go to 100% load and the first core seems to be getting most of the load at 60-100 and core 2 goes anywhere from 2-80 % load. i know it takes a bit for the paste to cure and temps have been slowly stabilizing and stopped bouncing around crazy.

Apparently the maximum operating temp for that cpu is 68 degrees and I have no clue why it is so low of a max. Which means it might be throttling.

Not sure, it couldn't hurt to reinstall your cooler and try a new line of paste, but I just find it odd that the cpu's max temp before it could damage itself is so low, though you could have an air bubble or something in the paste you originally applied so try reinstalling the cooler as it can't hurt.
