Skyrim as a stability test

I remember some people had very funky flickering on a unstable card in Skyrim as a stability test (Vanilla Skyrim) - does that apply or was it just random?

It's probably random.

Skyrim isn't very feasible as a stability test anyways.

TBH, Skyrim really isn't doesn't put much of a stress on any components (GTX 650ti 2GB and Skyrim is playable at max settings 1080p), and instability will be experienced in any game when using an unstable graphics card.

I see - asking since I'm not 100% sure if what I see in a game or two are juts bugs or my card - XCOM and Chivalry (Using Unreal Engine 3) are the main offenders - XCOM has a stutter every once in a while that looks like screen-tearing or something of the sorts and mild flickering on alien computers (I am also using the Long War mod which pushes the game quite a bit as it adds a lot of stuff) and fraps tells me I get 62 fps sometimes (V-sync not working?). As for Chivalry - I get some random black flickers every now and again but from what I found on the OC3D forums that might be a DX9 issue with GCN 1.0.

At the same time - Witcher 3 runs fine, Valley runs fine, Heaven runs fine, TitanFall ran fine (and ate my VRAM for dinner), OCCT last month didn't find errors and Skyrim runs fine (60% load) with 8x AA and 16x AF - I don't see any wild flickering in that or anything - maybe one when I am getting on a horse in the water but yeah. Shogun 2 also is fine. I don't get it.

Look, if your seeing any stability issues, just downclock your graphics card until they go away.

I can try it again but I ran around in circles and did a quest in it for about 30 mins on 1080p and 1440p and I didn't see anything that looked like an artifact. Lot's of lens flare and vegetation clipping through the camera but no real GPU-related stuff

I use skyrim as my test for my day to day overclocks. Its the most intensive game in my library.

Yeah, it'd just be a bug then-and its not like Bethesda could be bothered to even patch Skyrim-that was up to the modders.

Likely - and me using Firefox doesn't exactly help my paranoia as it's buggy as fuck but I don't want to support google

Could be Windows-I'm finding that its really causing issues with Skyrim (mainly in the form of breaking files however).

I have 8.1 on every one of my devices - even my phone
