Which AIO and fans?

Go to solution Solved by JORDANonPC,

come on...at least read the op. Black with red or all black. My OCD won't allow mixed colours but thanks for the input though :D

you should just be using them in pull anyway so you wont even see them :)

Once again, going though post after post, I realised my upcoming build is still far from complete. This time around, I have noticed  the top of the 350D can house a 280mm rad and judging the pros and cons, I decided to go with it. The two most popular 280mm AIO seem to be the Corsair H110 and the NZXT Kraken x60 and to me they seem pretty much the same. However it is the fans which worry me the most as both stock fans are far from perfect.

The colour scheme for my build will be primarily black and red. What I require from my fans is that it has to be fairly quiet but strong performers. Black with some red or all black. PWM is not necessary however it will be nice to have it. Price is not an issue to me so I hope you can recommend me what you think will be the best that will suit my needs.

Also, excluding the fans, which AIO might perform better: the Corsair or NZXT?

Edit: Links will be usefull :D

Corsair H110 and the NZXT Kraken x60

They are the same re-badge.

I recommend going with the H220. It will perform better than the 280 radiator AIO units out there.

Trust me, in the UK, you will not be able to find a single one.

Edit: Also, the price on the H220 is quite high as compared to a 280mm AIO. The AIO is basically a temporary fix for the first few years before I start a custom loop for my CPU and GPUs.

Get Swiftech Helix 140mm fans They're black and white and great for rads.

I'm actually going to be building a full custom loop with BitsPower crystal link as well as the d5 and upgrade kit (something similar to Singularity Computers). So the only thing salvageable from the h220 with be the rad which I will be swapping it out for a Blackice Stealth GT 280.

hmm...thats actually quite a good idea. But will does the placement of the fans affect performance in any means? I'm going to be drawing air in and exhausting it out through the back so I was planning to put it below the rad but if it gives the same performance when put at the top, then I'll go for it.

yeah having the fans in push or pull gives the same performance but pull is better because it makes dust easy to clean off your rad, so it will be best to have your rad exhausting like your back fan with the fans above the radiator  :)

Get a NH-D14 if this is temporary. Don't bother with a custom loop.

I did read it, I suggested what I though would be best there is very few red and black radiator fans. Go with what was suggested and pull the air through so you don't see the fans

Not a real fan of air coolers and since I am planning to push the clock speeds quite high, I'd doubt an air cooler will be sufficient for a 4770k.

Yup. That seems like the best option for the predicament I am in. Thanks everyone for your help!
