So I'm looking to buy some decent sounding and looking headphones for around the $50 mark.  Any suggestions?

Open? Closed? Preferred sound signature? Favorite headphones you've had or worn? Going to be used for portability or at home use?

My account is almost entirely dormant. Hope you all are having a grand time. Many years of fun were had here.

If you can bump up your budget to $80 I would suggest the NVX XPT100s or the Sony MDR7506's. For $50 or less  I would not have many recommendations.

These would be a pretty good choice.

I would suggest checking out the Koss KSC75s for a first pair of headphones. They are only $12, and I can recommend them. They are open though.

Location?

Superlux is a good place to start...

Here: http://www.superlux.com.tw/index.do

Their headphones are around 40-60USD at my location...

Prices may vary... there's a massdrop for their 668b headphones...

Of those 3 the Gemini (Takstar Pro80 clone) and Creative Aurvana Live! (Denon D1001k clone) have my vote with the CAL! being my top recommendation for the $50 tag.

I can recommend the nvx, they are great.

I just wish it stayed one cable instead of splitting into 1 for each ear cup, as I always take them off the wrong way and the cable gets stuck on my head
