No, there is more factor to consider not just Price/performance. There are power consumption/performance in which u never mentioned and Nvidia always win by this.

Its a matter of location as well, from where i live. No one use AMD as you will pay more for less.. Eg. You can find gtx980 for 15000baht and r9 390x for 19000baht. Despite GTX980 has more powerful GPU, you pay less for something better.

The 970 uses 80W less - in 3 years, that might turn into 60 or so $USD. Sorry, but power consumption is not that big of a factor. As for performance per watt - there the R9 Nano is king.

Brunei. lol, most of the GPU here are Nvidia AND mostly are MSI xD not that i hate msi considering my case will be the black/red H440 lol

Ah.. I see. That Sapphire card looks to be your best bet since its considerably cheaper than many of the 970s in that website.

by the way, i could get the Sapphire R9 390X TRI-X for $435 xD

390X is a good card as well - @ 1440p it matches a 980 and at 4K it beats it.

oh yeah~ :D just need to check if everything is valid from the website and if all is good, i will probably get the 390X considering i decided to get the RL2455HM monitor instead of the XL2420Z(decided this because, considering i am going for graphics, my fps will not reach that high) lol

Erm - that's not entirely true - the VRAM is not remotely connected to the GPU core - it has to do with the bandwidth, of which the 390 has plenty. Any GPU can max out it's VRAM, given enough bandwidth. People use to say that about the 280/280x yet here is a screenshot of me using 3GB of VRAM but only 50% of the GPU's power. Running a perfectly smooth 60 fps.

As for DX12 - Hawaii does exceptionally well in DX12 reaching a 980 in terms of horse power.

how come Even on Nvidias flagship cards they seem staved of bandwidth 970/980=256 Bit  980Ti=384 Bit while AMD has 390/390x = 512Bit

Nvidia have higher clocked memory to compensate usually but the 960 is VERY bandwidth-starved. As for 970 - it's slightly but it's manageable. 224-bit 3.5GB @ 7GHz effective.

390 and 390X are 512-bit 8G @ 6GHz effective IIRC.

It's the same for both - GDDR5 uses 4x the base clock for you to get an effective clock

GDDR3 used to use 2x

HBM I'm not sure about.
