I have the Reference design by galaxy (cuz evga was sold out at the time) and I was wondering if I could put the evga backplate on my galaxy card being it is the reference design.

yes, all you need is a torx t6 screwdriver to remove the screws. and a Phillups to put the supplied screw that come with the backplate to install it.

Ok cool. My friend found a backplate in cali on his trip and he is going to get it for me and I wanted to make sure it would work.

It will work, just make sure you have a torx T6 screwdriver.

i'm on the fence of whether i want a backplate or not, what made you decide to get one?

One I really like the look, two protect a $650 gpu with a $20 plate seems worth it, and three a little more cooling. And rigidity.
