Hey guys,

I have very little knowledge of networking and having multiple wireless access points, so I have avoided adding anything to my network so far. But, now I have had enough of slow wifi and bouncing between LTE and wifi so I would like to add a second router. How do I go about setting up a second router on the network? I've heard that repeaters or range extenders are slow, is this true?

Also, I saw this AC router on amazon for 40 USD, what do you guys think of the quality? Link

All suggestions are welcome,

Thank you,

ZombifiedPyro

Most repeaters and range extenders will reduce bandwidth, just as a limitation for how they work. What you want is an access point, rather than a router. If you can't find any within your price range, then some routers may have an access point mode, where they don't perform the extra routing functions as they would in router mode.

However, it's mainly just plug and play with multiple routers, though you may have some issues accessing their management pages at first, as both will likely try to default to 192.168.1.1. Change the second one to 192.168.2.1 or something similar so you can access both their management pages when connected.
