CPU 100 degrees

hi I didn't really notice this before but my CPU has been going to 100 degrees everytime I play league of legends and i have an intel i7 4790k (not OC because of temp) my computer hasn't shut down or anything and im not really sure if my CPU is damaged or not. I've checked my stock cooler (getting 212 EVO soon) and its on right can you guys help me

Is there any thermal paste on it?  Also, what are your CPU usage like when it reaches 100%?  Seems like there's something using a lot of CPU resources in the background.  I know the stock cooler is not good enough for the 4790k, as my friend who has a stock one hits 100c playing Witcher 3.  He didn't know what was going on with the crash and freezes so I took a look.  100c crashes, and with the 212/212x temps have stayed below 80 for all purposes.

If an Intel core actually reaches 100 C your PC will turn itself off. Since it hasn't for you, I wonder if this is a reporting issue. Perhaps just start by checking to see if your cooler is seated correctly. The fact that your temps are claiming to be over 100 but your pc doesn't turn off just feels like a reporting issue to me. Checking the cooler is always a good idea tho.

hi alright so I guess I didn't put the cooler down properly. the temperatures go from 50-60 while playing league now also is there any way of checking if my cpu is damaged or not?

im pretty sure if its working your fine... if your pc starts shutting down or freezing for what ever reason you might need to look into it more... but if not you should be fine...

 

- you can try stress testing your cpu and then open up task manager, then click on the performance tab, to see if all your cores/threads are working.

 

but im pretty sure if you had fried your CPU it wouldnt work at all, and you would have probably smelled it too...

4790K + stock cooler = 100*C. Get a decent cooler for it
