Was 1600x900, but I put it to 1080p yesterday.

What is your cpu usage when streaming?

I am not sure! I can check later, got class kinda soon.

check CPU usage, video settings, make sure you're streaming at 30fps. since you have an i5, I would try using Quicksync. quality is similar, bur CPU usage and impact on FPS will be reduced substantially.

This should help:

  • Lower bitrate to 2000-2500.
  • Stream downscale to 1280x720
  • x264 CPU preset: normal

There is no x264 CPU preset "normal"

Quality is similar to x264?  Not sure what fever dream you woke up from :P x264 is magnitudes better quality for the same bitrate.

Settings for OBS

Take it down to a max of 3500kbps, anything above and Twitch has the right to ban you.  3500kbps is the absolute max Twitch will allow you to stream at.  You may get away with it for awhile but they will eventually catch up to you.  Also, 4000k constant download for your viewers can be pretty taxing, especially how crappy Twitch servers can be no matter how fast your internet is.

If you're streaming CSGO, choose either one of these options : 720p @ 60fps or 1080p @ 30fps.  The first setting is a little less CPU intensive, and definitely smoother but tends to blur out most UI detail.  I found a happy medium at 1080p@30fps for WoW raids as I found that although it's only 30fps, the UI elements and text stay sharp at the expense of lower frame rates.  720p @ 60fps leads to a block of pixelated junk, but it's smooth... :P

Use these settings. Stream at 720p60 because 1080p60 puts stress on your cpu that you it doesn't need. Always stream using around 3400/3500 bitrate. Use Intel QuickSync so that there is less stress on the CPU. Look up on how to install the necessary drivers and enable it in the BIOS. **EDIT** I would recommend streaming to YouTube gaming because it is much better in terms of layout and the actual stream player. It runs on HTML5 compared to Twitch's flash player :(

Also, I don't believe that YouTube restricts the bitrate that you stream at.
