$220 1080p GPU

iHardware Shelden

So I'm looking to retire my 650 ti BOOST for something in the $220 range or less for basic 1080p gaming such as GTA V. Only down side is I have a 500 watt PSU so a new one might be needed (separate budget)

I am fine with used, refurbished and new cards and so far I have been looking at the GTX 960 (new) GTX 770 (used and requires new PSU) and even a 680 (used from friend but also need a new PSU)

Any other recommendations are welcome :P and it is much preferred to be a blower style cooler due to my case.

This will be paired with a slightly overclocked FX 6300 and I plan on sticking with 1080p for a long time along with the CPU until needed otherwise, thanks ;)

R9 380.

An AMD cpu has no place in a solely gaming build, end of.

R9 380

Are there any blower style variants of the 380?

Why would you want a reference 380 anyway?? The MSI one would do you way better.

I used to be quite active here.

This was teased but I've not seen one of them.

My case is from the 90s and has bad airflow so blower style would be preferable.

Then switch your case?

They're only around $80-90 for a really nice mid tower. LTT has done reviews for some, but HardwareCanucks has tons of case reviews. I like the Enthoo Pro M and the Define R5 from Fractal Design.

But really, I don't think there's any blower style ones for sale. I searched on eBay for about 10 minutes and could not find any.

I'd save for a new case, then upgrade your GPU.

If you don't mind rebates and can spring for $250, then the Powercolor TurboDuo R9 290 on newegg is the way to go.

If you don't mind used, an R9 290 is still the way to go.

Otherwise it looks like you're dealing with an R9 380 (or X). If you do, make sure to get a 4GB version as even games at 1080p are beginning to use more than 2GB of VRAM.

My case is to perfect other than airflow :P going to mod it sometime in the future I hope but I like it original. It's an InWin q2000

I would also suggest the Cooler Master HAF series. They come with quite a few case fans pre-installed and move a lot of air through the case (HAF = high air flow).

i5 3570k @4.2GHz

Corsair H100i GTX

Asus P8Z77-V PRO

OCZ 650W PSU

Nvidia GTX 760 SSC 2GB

Corsair Carbide 500R

SanDisk PLUS 120GB SSD

Seagate Barracuda 500 GB HDD
