Nice future Tech. Super DDR5 and 256 bit memory bus. Just more ways to make buckets of  money with old overproduced and overstocked cheap memory chips that are readily cheaper and less effective. Wait you NEED 32Gb of memory for 4k video now. LOL

I thought GDDR5X chips were for lower end cards and HBM2 were for the high end ones.

While this is all rumour and speculation, it is a good time in the production cycle for leaks so we would thought that some of what we are hearing has legs.

Except when AMD did it the response was "WHY ONLY HIGH END GET NEW STUFFZ?" and when Nvidia does it "SMART DECISION!"

Sooo fanboy squabble, cute. I suggest looking past the stupidity and bias on both sides. AMD fanboys are retarded, NVIDIA fanboys are retarded, this gives us a group of morons, ignore that large group.

Just like a politician promise you HBM2, higher bandwidth and everything under the sun and when the time comes to deliver the change there tune.

There is more than one Pascal card coming out, and the various cards will in fact be different from each other. It's not just "Pascal will have HBM!" or "Pascal will have GDDR5X!" or "Pascal will have high memory bandwidth" as if Pascal has exactly one single spec in each category and every single card either has it or doesn't have it.

You can in fact make HBM 2.0 Pascal cards and GDDR5X Pascal cards.

It's a win-win for me, if Pascal is shit then I won't need to upgrade my 980 Ti whereas if it's amazing developers will be able to push graphics even further.

Well i don't mind innovation on the GDDR5 front, as it will be the budget memory for years to come for at least upto x60 series Nvidia and x80 series for AMD. I even doubt x70 and x90 series GPUs will have HBM anytime soon, as there is still a problem with sheer production quantity.

HBM and HBM2 is and will be a premium solution for at least another generation reserved for the fury/fury x and the x80, x80ti and the titan cards.
