So my friend has recently decided to get into different sound production apps and stuff (auxy and garage band on ipad) and he wants to get started on something more advanced. He's been looking at getting ewql symphonic orchestra but his current pc is old and he wants to get something new to run this on. Its not going to be like a high end build, he wants something to start out on with maybe some room to upgrade later on. So he came to me for help since he knows next to nothing about computers, but I haven't really ever looked or done research on any audio related hardware(moar into tha gaming myself) so I thought what better place to come than here. I juat wanted help with a build that would be a good entry into an audio based pc but nothing with like ballin hardware. If you have recommendations on certain sound cards, amps, dacs, or other hardware you can post them or if you're feeling it then you could make a build on pcpartpicker. I appreciate any help, THANKS!!

Sound cards are useless in most cases. Is he going to be doing any gaming or such?

He's not going to do any gaming on it

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/RHrsGX Should suffice for just audio. Audio work is not PC intensive so the parts are mostly for casual use. You'll wanna invest in good audio equipment, not PC.

I second this as a good PC for doing audio stuff. The real money should be spent on things like mics (the Shure SM57 is a pretty legendary vocal dynamic mic) and audio interfaces. For basic stuff, your friend would do well to get one of the beginner setup combo things that you can buy over at sweetwater.

Hey! New SIgnature!

I'm supposedly a person on the Internet, but you'll never know if I'm human or not ;)
