Hello everybody! How y'all doing today? I want to upgrade my computer and one of the things I want to upgrade is my CPU. I want to do some pretty heavy gaming such as fallout 4 (which is almost here!!!!) And I also want to do some other games such as DayZ and some of the other newer games that do require some horsepower to run. I want to try to stay within the core i5 range because me being 14 and having a-non steady job I kind of want to upgrade as fast as possible and i5 being a little bit cheaper than most i7 processors would maybe be better for me. But if some of the games cant be run on an i5 then I guess I would be able to go up to an i7. My budget will probably be at the most $400ish dollars. If you could give me some recommendations with some benchmarks if possible, then that would be greatly appreciated. I'm going to be upgrading my other parts on my computer and I want to have 16 gigabytes of HyperX RAM, a MSI Z97 GAMING 5 ATX Motherboard - LGA1150 Socket. And I'm not 100% sure on what I want for my graphics card but I'm thinking about going with EVGA or Nvidia cards with 3 or 4 gb of ramz. Thank you very much for the help and have a good day

I am also going to have 16gb ram and I'm still thinking about my GPU. But I know it's probably going to be Nvidia or EVGA with about 3gb of ram

That's fine, but we need to know your current specs so we can recommend anything...

get 8GB of system RAM, an i5 4460 and a R9 390 if you want a gaming rig.

the i5 can run every games but for a bit more ''future-proofing'' i would get an hyper-threaded CPU (8 threads, hyper-threading)...for motherboard unless you plan using dual graphics cards then this one would be plenty, and cheaper:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: Intel Xeon E3-1231 V3 3.4GHz Quad-Core Processor  ($232.99 @ SuperBiiz)

Motherboard: ASRock H97 PERFORMANCE ATX LGA1150 Motherboard  ($79.99 @ Newegg)

Total: $312.98

Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

This xeon as i said is hyper-threaded so it's a locked i7 performance for cheaper, and this motherboard is excellent for any single GPU configurations you can think of.

| CPU: Core i7-8700K @ 4.89ghz - 1.21v  Motherboard: Asus ROG STRIX Z370-E GAMING  CPU Cooler: Corsair H100i V2 |

I'm going to be most likely taking apart my whole computer and putting all new parts in it. But currently I have an Asus H81M-D an MSI gt 670 and an Intel Pentium

re-use motherboard and direct drop in the xeon 1231V3 and re-use ram as well.
