50eda97169.jpgSo mega desk thing i've been designing and is going to be (hopefully) under construction soon... i've just realized some major issues as i'm a "scrublord' when it comes to watercooling and i've never attempted it and theres only been a All in one system in this household i'm curious if some of the waterpros could help me figure out a layout that would work with this.. and what i mean by will it work is this desk is around 6'4" so from the reservoirs to the rad is about 3' 1/2 .. what would be the best way (while including everything possible other then the hard drives) to watercool this efficiently... and not breaking all the banks?

Thank you in advance!

With such a large desk I would probably place the rads themselves in the two sections and not in the center to balance out the look of everything, say having the back side facing the wall, the two sections with a 360mm or 480mm rad each for cooling, that would give an overkill amount of cooling for most setups. Main thing is to create a system for air to come in and having the rads exhaust out at least with that concept.

would having 2 360mm rads on the right and back with the reservoirs in the middle of the "section" and the a pump or something on the middle section or something work?

Yes it would with adequate airflow, the only reason I suggest to move the rads to the 2 sections is to spread things out a little or it might look a bit too busy in the middle and empty on the sides. What are you planning to put into this desk?

Honestly, i won't need a ton it's only a 6 core 2.6gh/s processer and a R9 270x so not a ton but the idea is for the desk to be insane, problem with that is price so i'd eventually upgrade ya dig? And did you mean a 360 on each side section or only have the main watercooling on a side going through the others?

I would probably hold out on watercooling until you upgrade since a 270x isn't exactly worth watercooling, it would be better spent on the upgrade first then the watercooling in the desk. A 360mm rads in each section (2 in total) having the tubes pass through to the main one were what I was suggesting that would give you ample cooling and let you idle everything even at full load.

Similar to this i suppose? (excuse the 480 i didn't feel like removing it and the fans that were already setup.) and i'd need to make a dual fan system if i wanted to have the ability to go with fan cooling and in the future watercooling ... which is just a pain because i want to close up the fan spaces where they were so it still looks watercooled only when it's eventually upgraded.

Yeah that was what I was thinking at least to spread out the system a little to not have things too busy in the middle and completely empty on the sides.

I think that's what i'd do... any tips on what i could do to keep wires hidden i was thinking of where the back part where the glass starts have that entire area being a cubby and the only things poping from the back would be like USBs or something.. maybe have cut outs in the top of the desk for cords and such rather then dropping off the back.

Do you want to completely hide the cables themselves or have them bundled up nicely, I've seen many desk builds with sleeved cables nicely bundled together and look great with good cable management. If you want it similar to a regular case where you hide the cables behind it you could create a false floor with grommets or holes for the cables to pass through giving an area to hide and route any cables you like.

If i could sleeve everything and it look nice i'd like to do that, but seeing as currently I don't even have a modular powersupply 1. i have extra bullshit attached and 2. Not sure if you can sleeve these? or if you just buy pre-sleeved cables

While you can sleeve non-fully modular PSU's it would be more work than say getting a fully modular one and a cable set from Cable Mod or custom order some like from Icemodz.

Ok, I'll keep that in mind when i eventually do change to modular ... if you're curious here's the thread about the desk
