So I was playing League with a buddy and out of curiosity asked him how much FPS he was getting (I built his PC and I remember 350fps with a 960 and 4690k). He told me hes at around 320 on highest settings, I then take a look at mine and I seem to be only sitting at 270-300. All my graphics drivers are up to date. Question is, why am I getting lower FPS than my buddy? When I had my SLI 970s, I was sitting at 400-500 easily, I was at around 400-450ish when I first installed my 980Ti. How the fuck did my FPS drop by half?

Its not about that, its the fact that theres a random drop in FPS. You didn't read what my main concern was? I did a comparison with my buddy, he has a 960 and I have a 980Ti but he has more FPS than me? That so far is my main concern, no need to sound anal about it. And if you don't have the answer, don't replying. I'm here to look for help, not criticism.

When I built his PC, the first game I downloaded/ran was League as its the game he plays the most often, and I do remember it hitting 350 or so

Assuming you regularly update your drivers its not unheard of for them to affect performance, it may also be that the game itself has introduced a frame cap lower then when you first got your card. However unless you're seeing fps drops in high end games that you didn't get before I personally wouldn't worry especially when we're talking in the 300FPS range  :).

It could also be that the game isn't stressing your card enough for it to up the clock speed as it wont see any considerable benefit, might be worth checking with msi afterburner if you really want.

@techguru Just wanted to update, I took out my 980Ti and put in ONE 970, hit around 385FPS, put in another 970 and ran it in SLI, hitting 450-460. So I'm guessing the 980Ti isn't being stressed out enough to run at its full potential. Still don't understand why the 980Ti was at 450-500ish and then dropped to 270 within a month
