So While I was transferring files my hard drive got disconnected and now whenever I try to plug it in a computer it takes a long time for it to be detected and when it's found, I click on it and the file explorer stops responding and the rest of the computer becomes incredibly slow.  Whenever I do anything to it like trying to eject it or see its properties the windows that pop up freeze and are not responding, when I try to eject it I went to "show hidden icons" in the task bar, clicked on the usb icon and right clicked it to eject the hard drive, but it doesn't do anything, and freezes, so I have no other choice but to pull it out but even then the computer still says its connected, when I go to file explorer and right click the drive sometimes the drop down window doesn't appear or file explorer stops responding. Overall anytime I try to access it the computer isn't responding and becomes as slow as a dead slug. How do I fix this?
