Hello, I need a software which does the following:

Toggle microphone off by pressing a key and turns back only then when I press it again.

My headset has a switch like that but it's not reliable - sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, so I am looking for an alternative!

first of why do you need it and how and for what are you going to use it?

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

Does your keyboard have any macro keys? You can use them for that. If not, idk, I think you can make something in windows that binds a button to mic mute.

I am going to use it for when I'm recording videos for youtube - when there's gonna be a cutscene, I'll toggle my microphone off so there won't be any un-needed noise and when the cutsene will end, I'll turn my mic back on again.

I am using dxtory to record, as far as I can see, it doesn't offer any option to toggle microphone off whatsoever.

There is a simple program called Mic Mute, that will do what you need. I don't want to post links, as I'm not sure if they are allowed. However, if you just Google it, you should be good to go. :-)

Well it does mute my microphone but you can still hear the static noise, is there a way to remove it?
