"My case isn't black, I could have sworn it was white when I got it."

lol, but I have a white Phantoma 410 that's a couple years old and it looks basically new(doesn't quite have the same bright white as it used to, but doesn't look beige like my old PC's). Painted/powder coated white stays fine for a long time, unlike plastic.

I have two white Dell Dimensions, with white side panels that look to be made of sonething iron-y. (don't judge, I got them for free). They still look great, except one side has discoloured a lot, but this is because it had been used by a smoker.

My case is black... :3

but I also have an old dell lying around with aluminum side panels painted glossy white. Probably approaching 10 yrs soon and still white as new. Think main thing that discolors it is the light, right? The computer is in our basement room in a slot in the desk so not much sun hits it. But even then, had it upstairs in the sun the 1st few years and still white.

not a paint expert but think the important thing besides light is quality of paint/material. Plastic will def discolor fast while painted metal last longer

I have a white NZXT Phantom 630 that I bought in 2013 and it still looks brand new. It's been sitting out in the garage for months and still looks great. Maybe I'll go snap a picture later.

Looks fine, bit dirty here and there because of mods and cable grommet disintegration.

The material plays a very large part in longevity, not just color. Plastics are more prone to fading and discoloration. Painted metals are much more robust.
