Receiver Not Detected

So finaly, after a while, i got the HDMI to DVI adapter to troubleshoot my receiver.

 

My findings:

 

So, the old problem.

When i go PC-hdmi-receiver-hdmi-monitor with speakers

I can only get stereo.

My thoughts were that it was detecting monitors speakers.

 

So, thats where the adapter comes in.

 

I whent PC-hdmi-receiver-hdmi-hdmi/dvi apter-dvi in on monitor.

 

And then with that set up, it doesnt even detect the receiver.

 

 

So it seems like the problem is, using HDMI, the computer bipasses the receivers audio.

 

If I just go PC-hdmi-receiver

and a different port on GPU to monitor, i can get surround.

 

 

Ideas?

when using the reciever, I thought your PC no longer determines stereo/quadrophonic/5.1/7.1

 

The reciever tells the PC. try playing with the recievers settings.

That's what I'm doing now on my new receiver.

I just want the old one to work so I can sell it
