Phone Virus Help

Go to solution Solved by The Official Czex,

This is a four part question  (sorry)

1.  Can a phone get a virus?  (like a pc).

2.  If the first question/ one is a yes, how do i clean my phone fully so it will kill the virus?  (im willing to lose all previous data/ memory if i need to).

3.  Ignore if one is no.  If my phone does got a virus, how can i protect/ save my data/ memory on the phone?

4.  Ignore if one is no.  For future, how do i prevent this from happening?  (what causes the virus and how do i stay away from them on my phone).

If confused by what i mean

"data/ memory" means whats on the phone and/or whats saved on it.

Backstory

Earlier i had a phone for texting.  One day when i was not using it for texting or keeping me busy when im bored, i put it away and lost it (or just forgot where it was).  Now im back to wanting to use it once again for texting but am afraid that my past has caused this phone to get a virus.

Android can get viruses. IOS can as well, just not as easily. AVG has an app.Don't download sketchy apps and programs.

1.  Can a phone get a virus?  (like a pc).

Yes. It is less common however.

2.  If the first question/ one is a yes, how do i clean my phone fully so it will kill the virus?  (im willing to lose all previous data/ memory if i need to).

I have not had anything, but I know avast has an antivirus for phones. You can go into the options and perform a backup and reset.

3.  Ignore if one is no.  If my phone does got a virus, how can i protect/ save my data/ memory on the phone?

Google backs up your photos, any games or apps you have purchased are saved, and can be downloaded again. These are usually put on an SD card, and this SD card can be connected to your PC using a microSD card reader. You can go into the options and perform a backup and reset.

4.  Ignore if one is no.  For future, how do i prevent this from happening?  (what causes the virus and how do i stay away from them on my phone).

The "virus" will usually just come from a fake popup on the browser telling you that you have a virus, and then it tells you to manually install something sketchy.

Do i just download the AVG app and run it?  Will it find previous viruses or just new ones?

All viruses. You can also go in and find any files that look sketchy to you and delete their asses as well as any apps that have a non-reputable developer.
