Internet slow but speed test is fine?

Hey guys, since I live in South Carolina I got hit with all of the flooding and stuff and ever since then my internet has been super slow loading webpages and downloading games but my speed test is fine.. What gives?

What exactly is your speedtest? Specifically down speed and ping?

 

If you have fast download speed (e.g. 60Mbps) and a slow ping (e.g. 3000ms - a huge exaggeration but it happens in some places) then your internet experience will be terrible.

WiFi - 7ms, 22Mb down, 10Mb up

Ethernet - 6ms, 47.5Mb down, 9.7Mb up

Down: 6Mbps

54ms shouldn't be much of a problem at all. 6Mbps is also quite usable. I think your ISP might be playing tricks on you. Some ISPs temporarily boost the speed of your line when they detect a speedtest in progress, then throttle it back down when the speedtest is complete. On the flipside, the website you are browsing might be under heavy server load at the moment and as a result is slow for all the users browsing it (*cough*facebook*cough*).

I usually get the 6mbps speed in downloads but for some reason it won't do it anymore. Also ltt is slow and so it the steam marketplace

700 - 800 usually. I just did a speed test on Speedof.me and it says that my ping is 100 and my down is 1.35 mbps and up is 450 kbps.. ima reset my router real quick and see if that fixes it...

Also 6mbitss is actually 6144kbits each 1mbit is actually 1024kbits. :)

Ok so I think I might have fixed it.. For some reason "svchost.exe (netsvcs)" is using all my bandwidth.. Why?

Well either way I fixed it, I updated to Windows 10 and it fixed itself.... I guess something on Windows 7 was downloading stuff in the background
