I am looking into building a new PC but need some help picking out the right parts (first time PC builder), Figured it would be easier and cheaper to build than buy. Bellow are what the PC should be able to handle

  • Programing
  • Graphic Design
  • 3D Modeling
  • A little bit of gaming

My budget is Under $800 CAD, but ill pay more for better Quality/Performance

So far I have put this together http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/p/yyfhHx

Thanks in advance and sorry if I posted this in the wrong section.

Update 1: I Upped my budget to $800 USD.

That, and you could go for a cheaper case. Maybe save up a bit and get a better i5? R9 380?

Im Looking for a simple case for example the define S, simple outside and a great inside (cable management, space, etc.)

Then buy a Define S. The NZXT H440 is nice too, but pricey. If you really want your PC to look good, might as well get a case you want.

I used to be quite active here.

Not sure about the price in Canada but the NZXT S340 is a clean looking budget case.

Looks nice, but I was looking at the H440 and was wondering is there an case with similar design but with good air flow

Fractal Design R5.  Good airflow but a tad bit louder.  Temps aren't bad in the H440 tho.

Do you know of any case that's similar to the H440 but cheaper in price?

Define R4 and S340

Hmm, I think Ill go with the H440, it looks to have a more premium build plus it comes with 3 front fans, but I am a bit worried about is the back panel foam would start to peal off, if I were to keep sliding it on and off.

Sorry, but at $800 Cdn. dollars, you would be dumb to spend over $50 on a case.

Yes but is the case is premium quality why not.

Because you are on such a tight budget, that spending extra is not an option... so you get a "premium" case and shitty core performance?  What kind of PC is this?  Looks good and does not perform, not the best way to build.  I would rather mount onto a piece of plywood if that meant a good jump in performance.

Since this is my first time building a PC from scratch, I really don't know that much about components.

It is not a good time to buy a PC in Canada, unfortunately.  :(

Unless you have a hefty budget. :D

The R9 380 seems to outway the GTX 960 because it has a better floating point performance.

Yeah, but it cost more.  I tried that config:  http://ca.pcpartpicker.com/part/powercolor-video-card-axr93804gbd5ppdhe

No HDD or SSD?  Do you have an old one?

That motherboard supports up to 1600MHz RAM.
