Hello everyone, I'm new here to the forums and would like to start things off with a monitor repair question. I have two ASUS VW246H monitors, and had one of them (the older one) go out on me. I spent a little timing researching and tinkering and found out that one of the four backlight bulbs is burnt out. I am currently in the process of ordering a replacement, but was wondering if it's a good idea to order two? Not sure if the one going out was just a fluke, but I'd hate to replace one, only to have another go out a few weeks later. I figured you guys would have some more experience with monitor repairs them me, I'd appreciate any input. Thanks!

Welcome to the Forums!

It's a good idea to replace both bulbs at once to ensure one doesn't fail down the line shortly after and for brightness and color temperature (accuracy) of the bulb since they can slightly change as they age.

In response to the first thing, I have another one of these monitors right now, the second one is the one I'm fixing right now. I've been looking around for replacements and have found that its going to be about 20 bucks per bulb. There are actually 2 bulbs on the top and 2 on the bottom. So it's going to run about 80 bucks for a full replacement, so that's not too bad. Also, I guess I could hang on to the 3 'good' bulbs and keep them aside as backups, handy since I have identical monitors. Thanks for the input everyone.
