Aftermarket cooler (Artic Accelero) on 690?

What do you guys think about this product? 

It claims to lower temps 10-20 degrees celcius, but I've read in some places that it caused their 690 to die... 

Thoughts?

I don't comprehend how a cooler would cause your card to die unless you messed up installation and your ram fried or something cause you don't know how to use thermal pads. If your temps are a problem, then sure go for it

I would go for it, looks like it would cool the card better, probably quieter, I bet the single fan on the 690 is a screamer.

Honestly i dont give two shits about how it looks as long as its cools well. Ever heard of noctua, thats how they work.

İf you dont care about the looks in your case and have some money to spend it is good but since gtx690 doesnt have gpu boost 2.0 it wont benefit from it too much ;)

i installed artic coolers on both my 6950 Much quieter, temps don t go above 70c with fans at constant 7v and card overclocked to max setting in afterburner. (and i was using xfx doudle d coolers before)

if you can put a cpu cooler you can switch gpu cooler.

I have been planing of buying one of these myself,so yeah go for it, I haven't done so because I have some other things that require my money right now.

 

Just make sure to follow the instructions to the letter, and let the thermal pads/heatsinks for the ram (if any) be properly glued before using the card.

 

Don't take any shortcuts :D

What do you mean by "properly glued", and yeah, thanks, I won't take any shortcuts.

The ram heatsinks use some sort of thermal glue or adhesive pads, and those things require a certain amount of time before they properly attach to your ram, sorry for my bad english I know I am missing a word to properly describe what i mean but english is not my native language :C

btw if you want to revert to stock cooler later, go buy thermal pads, the glue bundled with it is permanent.

btw i didn t put any ram sink on my 6950 double d since there wasn t any stock, so far no problems.
