broke my HDD sata port plastic

Xyrock
Go to solution Solved by Bittenfleax,

lol. at first i tried to take the plastics out with a pair of tweasers... but i dont think i can connect it anymore to the hdd if i do that

Yeah, keep the plastic in. I would just put a small amount of Glue on it just to ensure it does not fall out. Good luck  :D

here i was installing new kraken x41 and gpu water cooler and i accidentally pressed on sata cable. i heard a "POP" and i was like wtf was that?

looked around i found nothing.

then when i tried to start the computer it didnt boot the HDD so i checked that up.

the hdd cable wasnt attached. so i was about to attach the cable and i saw this mess...

i literally was thinking that i done fked it up...

but i still tried to stick it to the sata port and its working!!!

should i be buying a new hdd/ssd/sshd or keeping this one? is the plastic repairable?

EDIT:

Notice the plastic is inside the sata cable.

@Xyrock I did this, it's fine. Just don't wiggle it about. You can even put small amounts of super glue on the edge so it stays on. (But not too much otherwise you would not be able to get it off.

EDIT:

Just looked at the damage. Seems really bad, but as long as you keep the broken plastic in the SATA cable it should hold it in place when plugged into the HDD

You could just buy another sata cable?

EDIT: If what @Bittenfleax said fails.. ^

look at the HDD sata port** the plastic is inside my sata cable. if i use another sata cable to fix it, it will just fall off because there is nothing that supports the sata cable

Just my two cents, but what i would do is try to take the plastic bit out of the sata cable and super-gluing it back to the hard drive. you could try getting it out by cutting/grinding/snippin away the outer connector on the sata cable. it would obviously ruin the cable, but those are like $6 for a pack of 5 from amazon.
