SSD won't boot Windows

Go to solution Solved by Captain_WD,

Hi Captain_WD. I have tried it and the status of my ssd is good. Ive run a diagnostic test and no problems encounter. What should i do next shoud i instead update my bios?

Do try the other ports with other cables first and see if the computer boots. If the SSD's S.M.A.R.T. status is OK, the problem should be elsewhere. Updating the BIOS may fix the issue but do be careful and do it as it's described in the manual.
You can post the S.M.A.R.T. status of the drive here if you are not sure how to read it. :)

Captain_WD.

When I open up my PC, it suddenly won't boot to Windows and only display "Reboot and select proper device error". Last time I used it was just the other day, and the last thing I did was shutdown and install updates. That's it. When I checked my bios my SSD can be detected and first in boot priority. Is it possible that my OS got corrupted when it was updating? Or the problem is in my SSD?

It's prob the boot sector that got corrupted or the file table. It might also be that it's not corrupted but the windows boot partition isn't labeled as active any longer.

If you have S.M.A.R.T. enabled in your bios and your drive is smart capable it should tell you if there is a physical problem with your SSD. Every SSD i know of has  S.M.A.R.T. capabilities.

I have no idea. This is my first PC build and my first SSD, when I was building this all the reviews for this SSD are good I didn't know that it was that terrible.

Hey there kamcr02,

This error usually indicates problems with the drive itself or the connection to it. I would try getting the SSD our and connecting it to other ports with other SATA cables and see if the result is the same. Try testing it on a different computer and check the drive's S.M.A.R.T. status to check if the problem comes from the drive itself or from somewhere else.
Do check for BIOS updates :)

S.M.A.R.T. is like a safety system check list that monitors the health of the drive. Here's a link with more info: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=fxl6L8

There should be a software listed on the manufacturer's website that can check this for you. :)
