Sindows couldn't detect this network's proxy settings

Hey guys, so I am having short internet outages from 5-10 minutes where when I run the troubleshooter on windows, it gives me the error in the title.  It fixes itself within the next 5-10 minutes.

Windows 8 / 64 bit

I built the computer, it has an intel i5 3570k @ 3.4 GHz, 8 gigs of ram.

Can anyone help?

How old is the motherboard? Do you have an external NIC card you can plug into the PCI slots to see if that fixes the issue?

Also you may want to run a virus/malware cleaner, like malwarebytes, to be sure that there are no viruses or malware causing issues with the connectivity. Yes this has happened to me before troubleshooting peoples PCs.

The motherboard is about three years old. Sorry, but I'm not quite sure what an external nic card is.

That is a link to an Internal Network Interface Card. They also have ones you can connect to a USB slot. Anything you can do to determine if it is the NIC card on your motherboard.

So, I will run the virus scanner when I get home to my computer. Do you also suggest that I buy this?

Start with Malwarebytes. Test for a little. If it continues to do it, check into the network settings in windows to make sure no proxy is checked.

If that all fails it could be your network card and i would suggest you get a network card to check to see if that is the issue. They are cheap and they can be useful in the future should you not really need it.
