1440p

Flowroro

Hi guys, im using dsr on my 1080p monitor, running 1440p. im relatively new to this (started using this literally 5 mins ago) and i can max out games at 60fps, most of them atleast. only tried crysis 3 and witcher 3. my question is do you really see any real difference between dsr 1440p and 1080p? and also is dsr 1440p the same or easier to run compared to a real 1440p monitor? would i get more fps using dsr 1440p or the same as a 1440p monitor? any other info about dsr is appreciated too :) trying to learn

Hi guys,

Running DSR 1440p, is exactly the same as running 1440p natively

Basically the benefit is similar to using Anti Aliasing, but the game will look largely the same just sharper

Well do you? Test yourself

Pro tip: Play around with the smoothness/sharpness slider in nvidia control panel until you find the what is best.

DSR only works for Maxwell cards.

The two main benefits of using DSR is that:

  1. Your need for AA is reduced because you're essentially running at a higher resolution
  2. The textures will be a higher resolution

DSR 1440p to 1080p is just as hard as running 1440p. It would be nice to run at a monitor's native res, but there are benefits to doing it your way. For starters, you have a 1080p monitor for super intensive games that are difficult to drive. But on games where you've got a bit of headroom, chuck on DSR and games will look even better. This does mean you will have to be constantly fiddling around with the settings, but it's no big deal.

I guess they updated that because at first I thought it was only Maxwell...
