Worth a fresh install?

Go to solution Solved by CapricaBuccaneers,

Upgraded W10 to fresh install was worth it for me - I didn't have a whole lot on the drive and it took a little over half an hour.

System interrupts are hardware errors - I have one with a Broadcom driver not being present for my network card because Asus don't supply the driver for Windows 10. The card doesn't use that driver because this revision doesn't come with a Bluetooth radio and functionality so I'm not bothered.

My system interrupt percentage is 0.1% - and this accounts for that.

Make sure you have all the latest (whql) drivers for all your hardware and the support features your motherboard has if you want to lower that percentage.

Edit - I'd suggest opening your Event Viewer and looking through your Errors and Critical logs to see what devices are causing it.

So lately I noticed that my CPU is being utilized way more than it should be at idle. Some have told me it's a virus, but I've scanned with both AVG and Malware Bytes and have found nothing. Is it worth a clean install? I have nothing important on PC.

-snip-

As a reference, my i5-4670 is idleing at around 12 - 18%.

So yes, over 30% is definitly weird, especially for a 6600K.

Before you reinstall everything try to find out what exactly is using so much ressources.

I'd say yes, restart as it will only get worse overtime, and this is a system level problem

I'm not familiar with the demands of Razer Synapse or Samsung Magician, but unless they or some of that "other stuff" is quite demanding you shouldn't really be idling at more than 4% tops (assuming chrome and steam are idle - like, not verifying games or playing videos) otherwise can you really call it idle?

Solve your own audio issues  |  First Steps with RPi 3  |  Humidity & Condensation  |  Sleep & Hibernation  |  Overclocking RAM  |  Making Backups  |  Displays  |  4K / 8K / 16K / etc.  |  Do I need 80+ Platinum?

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

Task Manager alone needs 0.5 - 4% ;)

Currently it sits more at 2-4% and sometimes goes up to like 8%.

I have quite a few things running and sometimes one of them has a short spike because of an update or something. Then it can happen it jumps to 15%.

you're right about Task manager eating some just checking, but even so I idle at 1%, with occasional drops to 0...

Alright guys thanks looks like I'm off to do a fresh install.

Good luck!  Let us know if that fixes it!  It's probably the best option.

CPU?

Chrome can take easily 10% while just sitting there and doing nothing.

4770K (not overclocked)

Hyper-Threading does make quite a difference I guess...

I guess.  I just tested again to make sure - opened 5 chrome tabs and playing music, and sure enough, after a few seconds to stabilize, it rests at 1%.

I'd post a picture but not sure the best way to do that yet :)

Don't worry, I believe you.

I guess you have less stuff running in the background and that 4770k makes the difference.

My tasks don't even fit in two TaskManager windows on a 1440p screen.

Ah, there we go, attachments

Yeah, so that's what it's like.  You can tell by the scroll bar there's far too much crap running in the background on my system too :P
