the standard RM is overpriced for what it is (kinda sums up Corsair in general), they aren't bad by any means, but you can almost always buy better quality units at the same price. I'd look for Seasonic or EVGA B2/G2/GS units if available.

If none of those are available check out this list: http://linustechtips.com/main/topic/404921-strmfrmxmns-psu-whitelist/

It does not affect all of their PSUs, the RM series does not have the 30C operation issue, and are generally better built than the CX series. Corsair don't make their PSUs, they put their branding on various OEM's units.

The RM series PSUs are okay, but there's much better options for the price (EVGA G2 and GS series, for example). The RM series have "meh" secondary capacitors, but are marketed and priced as super high end, which they are not. They're not bad PSUs though, just you can get better for the same price, or less.

Corsair dosnt make powersuplies, they make stickers and boxes for other brands powersuplies, it varies from series to series, but in general they are all overpriced based on the quality of the units.

They don't sell EVGA where I live so which Seasonic one would you recommend

Basically any one of them that fits the wattage and budget. Probably either M12II (80+ Bronze (EVO edition has fully modular cables, like the RM) or G- (80+ Gold) series

It's a better build power supply than the Corsair RM for the same price. It's based on the Seasonic G platform, but with full modularity, a higher quality FDB fan, and a switch to toggle between the semi-passive and active cooling.

The one benefit that the RM550 doesn't have is a lower noise profile - so it's going to be quieter.

You're very welcome.

And no. I just understand the general layout of these websites and how navigate around it. In this case, I found the search bar, look up "550w", click on a random product, and click on "ATX Modulares".  I can get through Arabic, Korean/Japanese/Chinese, etc based sites like this as well, even though their alphabets looks like gibberish to me. lol
