Hello Forum, Now I have this issue where I'm doing a bit of upgrading and I took out my 7790 and replacing it with a Powercolor 7850. The issue is that I'm running an A8-3850 and the motherboard have an hdmi connection so when I install the 7850 and connect the HDMI cable to the 7850...nothing shows on my monitor. What am I possibly doing wrong?

AMD has dedicated drivers for HDMI connectors, make sure to download the latest WHQL driver (13.4),run it and choose custom installation, tick all the boxes.
Also make sure you choose the discrete graphics card in the BIOS.

It's also worth noting that due to the slightly different architecture of the 7790 to the rest of the AMD 7000 series lineup the drivers are different, so a complete removal of old drivers & a clean install of the new ones is recommended.

So do you have the HDMI in the motherboard or the GPU? If its in the GPU and you have no video. Plug the HDMI into the MoBo (Using the APU) and find somewhere to change the settings so the GPU is used. If you do have the HDMI in the MoBo, put it in the GPU. If you get nothing from both these methods. Take out the GPU and use the APU, go on the AMD site and downlaod the latest driver for the GPU and install it. Then switch back over to the GPU.

As a last resort, try to test the card in a different machine, otherwise it seems to me like a classic case of DOA, return the card to the vendor or RMA it to the manufacturer.
