Onboard audio Z170 and x99

ryanmmax

Will be pulling the trigger on a new build this Black Friday, I havnt decided on 6700k or 5820k...

But my question is.... Is there a difference in on board audio from one manufacturer board to another manufacturers board in modern motherboards? I Have been using a sound card in my comp for years and am under the impression that it's not usually nessisary anymore. Does on board audio support game effects like my creative supposedly did?

Audio shouldnt be the deciding factor between x99 and z170.... board is different from brand to brand and how premuim the board is

Both of those chipsets mainly uses either the Realtek ALC892 or the Realtek ALC1150 from what I've seen and deliverers a decent amount of power, so either of those should do just fine.

Motherboard audio has improved quite a bit in recent years, so you should be fine with most headphones/headset out there.
