Help with making steam library on Hard drive

So i got this Maxtor 250GB hard drive out of an old HP, it works, computer detects it, 7200rpm, i can move stuff on and off it. But steam wont let me create a Steam library folder on it. any advice?

Are you downloading a game at the moment? If so pause it and set up the new library in preferences.

boy I dunno if Id trust that drive

Just had to make it in the settings menu rather than right when i download something

Its 10 years old but it hasn't been used in over 5 years so it only has 5 years of use, and has 4/5 eggs on new egg with like 75 reviews
