Hi everyone

so here's what I got. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/WbsdhM

As added in the link I'll get an Ultrawide 1440p soonish but still need to make up my mind regarding GPU.

Usage: CAD (no need for quadro of firepro), occasional game Star Citizen, GTA5, Total War (focus on 60fps rather than Ultra Settings), some editing.

Budget: about 600 US$ incl. watercooling block(s)

Location: Switzerland (en.toppreise.ch page for pricing)

So far I considered the following 3 options:

A- single R9 390x, be under budget and get something new next gen

B- dual R9 390, be over budget (30%) and stick with it for min 2 years

C- single 980ti, be over budget (30%) and go SLI in 2-3 years

I'm open to suggestions preferably from people using ultrawide 1440p monitors and their experience.

Thanks for reading

tl:dr what GPU for 600$US 3440x1440 60fps

Hi everyone

The monitor you picked out has free-sync support

So, go for the dual 390s, most AAA games support crossfire well now, and it'll have more raw performance than a 980 ti

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

haven't bought the monitor yet - due to the fact I'll need to stick with one maker after it (not happy about that at all)... so all options are valid from that point of view

I haven't followed the whole rumor mill lately but isn't the next generation of GPU supposed to have substantialy more performance or is that just PR talk?

Right, but I don't think a 1440p 75Hz IPS G-sync monitor is a thing, at least PC part picker doesn't have one available

true it's not on PC part picker yet - same monitor is due to be released as g-sync model with a rumored 100Hz ;)

though I personally don't care about high Hz - 60 is plenty fast for my old eyes
