Hey guys,

looking to migrate to a 900D case with some upgrades on the way.

Budget for these parts is irrelevant

Case: Corsair 900D

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-Z87X-OC or Gigabyte GA-Z87X-OC-FORCE

CPU: Intel Core i5 4670K (Haswell)

PSU: Corsair AX860i

RAM: Corsair Dominator Platinum 16GB (2X8GB) 2400Mhz

I'm taking the graphics card (GTX 660) and disk drive from my old build. and i already have a monitor.

Things that are being looked at for the future

GPU: 2x GTX 770's or 780's

PSU: Corsair AX1200i or whatever

Storage: 2x SSD's and a large storage HDD

a soundcard

and  2 separate watercooling loops.

This computer will be used mostly for gaming but i dabble in video editing and other misc. things.

Thank you in advance for all feedback.

EDIT: also suggested names for this build are also appreciated

Man I live for this stuff B)

You don't need an AX1200i for that setup...

I like the color scheme of Noctua fans. Deal with it. Forget about the bad memories of the past.

The dual loop is for a decorative design with contrasting colours, thanks though :)

What colors are you going for?

Because of the bright orange highlights on the mobo im looking at a deep purple and bright orange.

Whew, thats good.

Unique colors! I've never seen a build like this. Can't wait for the final product!

But it also won't hurt too :P

It could. Lower efficiency.

Once you start talking platinum efficiency ratings the difference is so negligible.

With the watercooling loop im looking at EK Nickel Plexi CSQ water blocks and when i get my hands on the case i gotta look at space for reservior placing towards the front of the case. Im hoping that EK will do a Plexi version of the motherboard blocks because i dont particularly want to use the stock heatsinks.

Even the ax860i is overkill--the ax760i is plenty.

well the system will be overclocked, and be running 2 watercooling loops, 2 GPUs, and as many HDDs/SSDs i can fit, plus fans, lights and i like having a large buffer (probably too large) to expand into. Will look into it a bit further, thanks.

Hmm. A ax760i would be pushing it but a 850w bronze would be enough.

With regards to waterblocks, and the colours i plan on using (Deep purple and Bright orange) i have looked at EK Nickel Plexi blocks with the Original CSQ design which is frosted and the Clean CSQ design which is clear, which design would you suggest and is there any other waterblocks that you would suggest.

  • 4 months later...

UPDATE: So the base build is almost sorta done, the AX860i has issues with the OC-Force but im getting that fixed, when thats done ill start a build log for this titled: The Behemoth.

I am also looking for some dimensions for a mid-plate, so i can get one made. If you can help with the dimensions or supply CAD drawings it would be a tremendous help, if you would like to discuss this further please send me a message.
