Hellooo

I have been craving for a portable little rig which I can take to friends ect.

Ever since I saw the sugo case from one of linus' videos I quite liked the size and design so thats what id like to build it into.

Right now the cheaper the better, I went with AMD for this reason, however I really dont know much at all about AMD so very willing and open to any suggestions on CPU.

With this in mind, I wouldnt mind something which could handle very basic CAD program operations if i ever needed a portable machine. Not rendering, just operating the software without wanting to kill myself.

I was not too sure what the best bang for your buck GPU is either, probably a 750Ti or 950? or is there a better budgeted AMD card?

I wont be playing AAA titles on this machine, primarily just multiplayer/LAN games (Dota 2) with friends so not looking for amazing performance just trying to get a portable machine without breaking the bank.

There is not necessarily a budget but im trying to keep it cheaper.

Heres a little list ive done thus far but open to changes ect:

NOTE: Prices are Australian.

If you have a completely different parts build id gladly take a look!

Looks good :) Id shell out a few more dollars for an SSD rather than an HDD, and get 2400MHz RAM since the APU will benefit from it :)

For SSD, pick up a 120GB HyperX drive, they go really cheap here in the US, hopefully the same goes for AU.

4690K // 212 EVO // Z97-PRO // Vengeance 16GB // GTX 770 GTX 970 // MX100 128GB // Toshiba 1TB // Air 540 // HX650

Logitech G502 RGB // Corsair K65 RGB (MX Red)

Theres an A10 7700K for $25 more, worth it?

I would get a better APU and forget about the GPU

What would you recommend?

I think it may be better to just go all out for a 7870K

Hey, you could've asked me! I would get an SG05BB-LITE, stuff in an i3/G3258 and a 750 Ti/950. A cheap 300W SFX PSU and a 250GB SSD should be nice.

Boom:

CPU: Intel Core i3-4170 3.7GHz Dual-Core Processor  ($114.99 @ NCIX US)
Motherboard: ASRock B85M-ITX Mini ITX LGA1150 Motherboard  ($67.98 @ Newegg)
Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 750 Ti 2GB Video Card  ($89.99 @ Newegg)
Case: Silverstone SG05BB-LITE Mini ITX Desktop Case  ($37.99 @ SuperBiiz)
Power Supply: Silverstone 300W 80+ Bronze Certified SFX Power Supply  ($49.99 @ Amazon)
Total: $495.83
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

If you do plan on sticking with ANY APU, I recommend that you get higher speed ram, say 2133Mhz or 2400Mhz, whichever the motherboard can support. Of course the higher speed is most desireable.

The best APU in your budget.

I would get a dedicated GPU latter on if you need more performance and it doesn't have to be as portable.

I think it may be better to just go all out for a 7870K

New List :)
