Could I Upgrade This?

Go to solution Solved by techguru,

I have a stock acer aspire desktop computer here are the specs:

CPU: I7 860 @2.80GHz

GPU ATI Radeon 5570 1GB

MoBo: H57M01

Ram: 4x 2gb (Sigh)

Psu: Idk (Probably a cheap one)

What I would like to do is upgrade the GPU to an r7 (if possible) and add an ssd, I am not 100% if the motherboard will allow me to perform the upgrade.

you could upgrade it

but I would also get a new case for it

and a new power supply then as well

Pretty sure that cpu would bottleneck an r7. Could be wrong though

You could upgrade the GPU to like a R9 270x or GTX 950. Make sure you have the required power connectors otherwise you might be stuck with a GTX 750Ti.

750 ti is still pretty solid though.

not really

Yes and no.

I play AAA titles 50-80Fps Medium settings.

Shadow of Mordor is one of them. Wish I could get more though, also overclocks pretty well.

So could I get a R7 260x? Or R7 370?

R9 270x or Gtx 950, but as I mentioned make sure you have the required power connectors.

Maybe. MAYBE an R9 380

you could get anything up to a amd 390 or a nvidia 980 before it would bottleneck that cpu

however you probably need a new psu as well

and..maybe a case

Isnt that CPU overclocked? I dont believe my mobo supports overclocking.

the overclocking probably adds ..maybe 5-8fps extra

I wouldn't worry about ocing it

And finally...How would I go about the process of installing a new GPU to the motherboard? Like not physically but like is there anything I need to do in the bios?
