PCI-E wireless network card not working

My internet to my PC has been acting up so I decided to open it up and take a look at it. I noticed that on the network card there was a cable unplugged, so I plugged it in and it worked but only with the side panel removed. Since then I have tried it in all of my expansion slot and nothing has worked. I have updated drivers and troubleshot everything I know to troubleshoot and nothing has worked. Please help. By the way it is a dell inspiron 546 from 2007.

It is an ANATEL Atheros AR5BDT92 0860-09-398. It was in the system when I bought it.

It suddenly stopped working?

Yes. About a week Ago, but I'm literally 10 feet away from my wireless access point so I had no idea it was going out.

does not working mean the device cant find any networks, can find networks, but not connect to them, or does the card itself just not detect as installed at all?

It detects networks but cannot connect to them if the side panel is on.

Try to reset the router and wiggle the card or switch to another PCIe slot maybe it's not connected with the PC functionally.

I have tried that. Do you have any other suggestions?

One last probability is that the card is dying or somehow faulty.Buy any cheap wireless network card to replace it might be your best bet.
