will that heat sink work on a 478 cpu? or would i have to make a mounting plate?

Yes a custom mouting plate. and I dont want to get a temporary heat sink because if I get the CM 212 evo then I can use it when I up grade my system So could I make a custom mouting plate? I have the tools to do it.

The Scythe Shuriken works for sockets AM2, AM2+, AM3, AM3+, LGA775, LGA1155, LGA1156, LGA1366, PGA478, and LGA1150. I think you'll be fine with that.

If you really want to make a custom mounting plate, go ahead. I just don't have any experience in doing that.

i use the scythe 2 to cool my 478 socket. it would be very hard to make one for the 212
