Hi

I'm thinking of getting this build.

Main purpose would be gaming and some streaming.

Thoughts needed on the general build/mix of components.

I'm not sure if I should get the GTX 980 ti SC or GTX 980 ti Classified.

Also, the 1000W PSU looks a bit overkill. I put it in there to support future upgrades.

You can get as technical as you want. If there's something I don't know I will look it up (and learn something new in the process).

Thanks

Unless you plan on burning CD's get rid of that optical drive.

Install windows with a bootable USB

Just a money waste you can buy an external or w/e later if you find you seriously need one.

I think they make the front of your case look ugly AF

you dunt need dat m.2 sata m8. just get another 850 pro

put it in RAID 0

I've got a ton of regular HDDs that all need a SATA port. So the idea behind the m.2 was that I'd use that one for OS and main game(s), the SSD for movies and everything else as longterm storage.

with a white - black theme and the 6700k

keep in mind using the m2 drive disables a sata express port.

why not get a PCI-E SSD or something of those sorts? Or if you needed to 1TB evo?

Actually, that's how my current pc is set up. And then you have to burn that one cd to help fix a friend's pc...

PCI-e is expensive last time I looked (has been a while since I looked though).

The 1TB evo is something I hadn't considered. Will it perform the same(-ish) as the m.2?

I don't know. I've never had SLI before and from what I heard/read it's only a 40%-ish increase? I was actually thinking of adding another 980 ti later when it's cheaper.

it is a minimum of %60 boost and better in games that support it. grab 980 tis now and game at 4k 60 FPS

okay, here's something you haven't considered, file transfer, M.2 will win easy.

but startup times, they can only get so fast, you know? We can't kill startup times slower then a few seconds, 3 second startup is like M.2 || 5 second is like SSD and its pretty impossible to get lower.

I would need a 4K monitor for that. It's next on my list, but I don't have the money for one (or two) right now. Might as well grab another 980 ti then.

I had already considered sli though, hence the overkill PSU.

I hadn't expected the 60% boost though. That's nice to know! Might do some extra jobs just to get it faster. ^^

Alright, you've convinced me :) I will go for the 1Tb evo, unless I can drop one of my old HDDs. I think one of them is about to die anyway. Might go 2x 850 pro's in raid 0.

Quick question about the raid setup on the boot disks. Does the mobo support this? I've had raid before, but never on the boot disks.

I can't tell you how to specifically because I have an ASRock board but I'm sure someone knows

The only remaining question now is: will the mobo support raid 0 on the boot disks. If someone can answer that question then I'm good to go and buy the parts.

All the replies and answers were very heplful! Thank you everyone.

most games have 80+ performance boost in sli, with the worst is thief at the bottom with only %50, but most games can hit at least 75%
