Hi all,

Over the last little while my pc has gotten very clogged up with junk (broken installs and such), and all sorts of programs running in the background. I don't think its affecting performance that much, but i'd like to do a clean reset. If i click the option in the settings app on W10 'Reset this PC', it removes the files, then re-installs windows 10 - will i need a windows 10 product key to activate it again? As i bought windows 8.1, then upgraded, i thought this might be a problem - help?

Thanks

you wont need to upgrade or reinter the key with a reset. if you want to perform a FRESH CLEAN install (which I reccomend) use magicaljellybean to find your key on the existing windows 10. It is different than the one used for 8 and was generated and stored on the PC when you upgraded. This key can be used to perform a clean install from scratch with windows 10.
