Hey guys, I've been lurking for a bit and hoping you all can help me figure out how to go about my first build.  I'm the kind of person that has a tendency to overspend when getting into a new hobby and know that this particular tendency can easily get out of hand with this particular hobby.  So please help save me from myself.

1. Budget & Location
I'm hoping to keep the price around $800USD.  I'm flexible on this and if going a little above is going to make a huge difference I'll certainly consider it.  I'd say I max out around $1000-1100.

2. Aim
I want to be able to use this to stream gameplay from my XB1 (via El Gato HD60) and to play some games.  I'm not trying to get to crazy extreme graphics yet and am perfectly content with running what few PC games I play on average or above settings.  The only PC games I play as of right now are simple things like League of Legends and Hearthstone, but would like to have the capability for more.

I dabble in graphic design and photo/video editing, but I won't be doing too much of either of these on this rig.

3. Monitors
I plan on a single monitor set-up, maybe two in the near future.

4. Peripherals
Basic keyboard and mouse should suffice, but I will need an OS.

5. Why are you upgrading?
My laptop from 2008 just isn't cutting it anymore.  I want something fresh and new and find the concept of building a PC exciting.

As for color schemes, I'm fine with black and any single accent color.

Thank you reading and any responses, information and feedback is greatly appreciated!

if you want to spend more, you can upgrade the ssd below to an 850 evo which will be faster. or, you could change the case to a more expensive one, although the n400 is a nice case and at a great price.

the cpu is non overclockable, but it should perform well enough for your tasks. i would buy windows off of the g2a website to save money or else you'll have to sacrifice performance. i think the build below is a good balance between having a good cpu, gpu, and monitor. the reason the monitor is so expensive is because it has a 1ms response time, which i believe is great for gaming; some people would disagree. if you want better color reproduction, you're going to have to go with a higher response time and an ips panel. here are some other options:

Asus VN248Q-P

Acer G257HL BMIDX

Acer G247HYL bmidx

Acer KN242HYL

Acer H236HLbid

if you have any other questions, let me know. i don't know too much about monitors so you'll have to do your own research or ask someone else on the forum
