looking for new stereo

Go to solution Solved by spwath,

You are not going to get a good system without a receiver and mildly large (compared to Logitech) speakers

so right now i have two sherwood 125 watt 3 way speakers connected to my integra DRT-6.5. both the speakers and the receiver are quite bulky.. so now im looking to buy a nice 5.1/7.1 stereo to plug into my computer. i have the gigabyte GA-Z97X-UD3H-bk motherboard with 8-channel HD audio. what would be a good stereo to get? the logitech Z506 5.1 stereo? VM Audio EXMS581W? two quality monitors and a subwoofer?

what do you guys have? any suggestions?

If I sound snarky with this sorry, but don't call it a stereo unless it has 2 channels of audio. 5.1 speakers would be better because I came here thinking you were talking about a radio.

About what you are asking: Do you have the spots in the right place for a 5/7.1 setup? do you really need it. Personally, I would go with two speakers because remember, you only have two ears.

sorry to disappoint.

what speakers or monitors would you recommend. i would prefer monitors, then i could plug them straight into the pc rather than having a huge receiver
