My First gaming pc build Ft. Corsair C70

This will be the first time I've ever built a gaming pc. I have build a pc before with 2nd hand parts but I've never used any new parts before. The rigs primary use will be gaming but I also use AutoDesk program's and do some video editing on it too.

Here's the specs: -i5 4670k

-Gigabyte Z87-HD3

- 2x4gb of black corsair vengance Lp (1600Mhz, cas 9)

-Thermalright true spirit 140 CPU cooler

-1tb western digital blue HDD

-corsair GS600 power supply

-corsair C70 in Gunmetal black

I'm yet to decide on which GPU to get but I have around £210 to spend on one. I'm probably going to wait until more is announced about AMD's next gen cards so for now I will have to stick with my little GT610, that is if its any better than the iGPU

Good idea waiting for the next gen of cards. If you're looking at doing video editing, look into a 4770k, but your CPU is okay if you're under a budget.

Today almost all of my parts came apart from the case ( I ordered it from a separate place that's why)

I'm just doing minor video editing and I'm on a budget of £750, so the i5 seems good enought for me.

If you're editing with that low of a budget, go AMD.

Or not.

That seems fair enough, just if you're dealing with large amounts of HD video, editing it and then rendering may take a lot of time.

I will use it for gaming mostly so I thought the 4670k would be better. I only do video editing occasionally unlike gaming which I do much more.

Yeah, I agree with this, with that budget you should really have gone with an AMD build.

It's best to ask us on the forum before you buy/build.

EDIT: Even though you just said about gaming, AMD would still have been a better option for you.

you should really ask for help with a build before you buy parts and also its better to buy everything at once, just a thought for future builds :)

One thing I decided that I could still do without my case is assemble the CPU cooler seeing as may people on the Internet claim that it is near impossible to mount the fan using the included clips. I decided to buy a second fan to make a push pull configuration so for me it took longer but after about 3/4 of an hour I managed, here's some pictures.

By the time of buying a GPU I will have around £100 extra on top of the £200 for the gpu that I mentioned before so the budget will more likely be £850 if that makes any difference.

Honestly I don't think it is, because if you want to go down the intel route with editing, you would need an i7 and £850 is not enough for that system.

You could have an AMD and game. The processor doesn't really make a difference to games

He is not really doing editing, and he has 300 bucks for a video card, so he can get something like a 7970

You should revert one of those fans. Right now they're just blowing at each other.

Thankfully I already have, I couldn't imagine having to try and attach the fan again. Here's a picture:post-36730-0-43355900-1376407739.jpg

This will be interesting the height of the cooler is 170-171mm and the CPU cooler clearance in reviews for the corsair c70 is 170mm. I don't know if they measured to the windows since the window is extruded out. I suppose I will find out tomorrow when the case comes.

I think you may have a struggle on your hands there. There isn't much you can do if it doesn't fit either. At one end you have heatpipes and at the other you have plastic  :(
